Increased Mobility and a Growing Paranoia

Captain’s Log. February 11, 2019. 8:00 AM. Family Domicile. Forty second entry.

At the ripe old age of one, after many months of army crawling, the Young Squire Giggles McCracken decided that today was a particularly good day to crawl on all fours. I do not know what possessed him to do so, and I had essentially reached the conclusion that he would forego this step and move directly to walking.

Much like his sister, the Young Squire has elected to do things on his own time, when he best sees fit. He is a physically strong young lad, which is why it was been mildly perplexing as to why he has not decided to move forward with other modes of transportation sooner than this.

How long will he crawl for? What more mischief is it going to bestow amongst our household now that he is becomings increasingly mobile, and awfully quick to boot? What necessary precautions must I take as his father to protect him?

Thinking back to the younger days of Lady Fancy Pants, the two of them are entirely unique. She was always a delicate soul, content to be more verbal than physically destructive. The Young Squire is the opposite – he will be the type of child that requires a lock on every cabinet, and a plug on every outlet. I do not know what to do with myself with such a child, and am rendered to a constant state of observation whenever he is awake. There is no deep sitting on the furniture; I must be poised and at the ready to leap into action at any moment.

Tonight, Lady Fancy Pants is spending the night at the house of Lord Overpour and The Queen Mother, providing the fair Duchess and myself with an opportunity to rest. I am currently debating between engaging in a viewing spectacle and turning in for an early evening. We shall what decisions will be made.

Signing off for now,

Captain Duck N. Tickles
